When the sensible and well spoken Joyce Templeton Reeves unexpectedly inherits the crumbling Hotel Sol Luna in North Tenerife, she discovers it is on the brink of collapse. With only two staff members, the unnervingly creepy porter Uncle Lurkin and the overly enthusiastic Events Coordinator Robyn Jolly, Joyce must find a way to save it.

The Players Future Trust is considering the theatre for its Community Arts Revitalisation programme, and the assessor arrives the day after tomorrow. The group must find a way to impress him.
What follows is a frantic attempt to create something that resembles a performance. Rehearsals fall apart as lines vanish, props disappear and confusion reigns. After a flurry of increasingly ridiculous ideas, they decide that Shakespeare is their safest option, only to discover that old English causes even more chaos, with actors forgetting their lines and stumbling through scenes.
When the assessor finally arrives, the cast must present whatever they have managed to pull together. In the middle of the muddle, something unexpected happens, leaving the future of the Jolly Giant Theatre hanging on one unforgettable moment.
